About the Author

Allen Smape was born in Australia and came to the United States in 1965. After completing his Master's Degree in Psychology at Pepperdine University he began working in educational and clinical settings. He has workded as a school psychologist for the Lost Angeles Unified School District, the Plumas Unified School District and the Sierra County Office of Education and has been the Director of Special Education in both the Plumas Unified School District and the Sierra County Office of Education. He was on staff as a lecturer and student/staff counselor at the South Australian Institute of Technology and at Adelaide Children's Hospital, Department of Psychiatry, in Australia as a clinical Psycologist. He currently maintains a private practice in Reno as a Marriage and Family Therapist and for the past six years has provided treatment services for Federal defendants and offenders who are under the supervision of the Federal Parole and Probation Department, Federal Pretrial Services and the Bureau of Prisons.
